On Saturday, April 12 at 2:00 PM, the El Dorado Neighborhood Library will host an LA Opera Lecture Series featuring the opera Thaïs. activity;src=1379696;dcnet=4155;boom=79571;sz=1x1;ord=4?The most beautiful courtesan in Alexandria, Thaïs holds an entire city in her thrall as she embraces life’s most sensual delights. One man alone, the monk Athanaël, weeps for her sins but his pilgrimage to save the sinner’s soul becomes a tortured journey of erotic obsession. As seducer transforms into saint, the holy man falls victim to his own passions.

This presentation is free and recommended for adults. Light refreshments will be served. A free opera-related gift will be given out at the end of the presentation.

El Dorado Neighborhood Library is located at 2900 Studebaker Road. For more information on this program or other El Dorado Library Services, please call 562-570-3136. For information on other Long Beach Public Library services programs, call 562-570-7500 or visit www.lbpl.org.
