Homebound Readers Services

The Homebound Reader Services program provides customized library materials to homebound customers living in Long Beach. The service is specifically designed for those who are confined to their homes by an illness or an injury, either chronic or temporary. This service is initiated by a request to the Homebound Readers Service at (562) 570-6959, Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Materials are selected for each homebound reader and mailed out every other week at no charge. The program is like a personal librarian at your service.

We lend books to blind youth, adults and their caregivers. This service is made possible through a partnership with the Braille Institute.

Braille books are located on the lower level of the Main Library next to the New Large Print book display.

Please call (562) 570-5709 for additional information.

The Books on Wheels Program offers dinner and a book, or dinner and a movie delivered to homebound readers enrolled in the Meals on Wheels program. Call the Homebound Readers Service at (562) 570-6959 to sign up for the Books on Wheels Program.
