General
- You may use your card at any Long Beach Public Library. Materials may be checked out and returned to any Long Beach Public Library.
- You may check out up to 25 items (5 DVDs and/or Videos maximum) and up to 3 items on a specific subject (per Dewey number).
- First time borrowers may check out 2 items.
- Borrowers are responsible for items left in library book drops until they are checked in at the library.

Renewals
- Most items may be renewed twice, except New Release DVDs.
- You may only renew items that have not been placed on hold for someone else.
- Materials with use fees may be renewed, and will be charged a second use fee.
- Media items, such as DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks, must be renewed in person at any Long Beach Public Library, or by calling the library during open hours and speaking to a staff member at the Circulation Desk.
How To Renew Items
- Online, using your name, library card number (barcode) and PIN
- By phone at (562) 570-5496 or 570-5498 with your library card number (barcode)
- At any Long Beach Public Library Public Access Computer (PAC), using your name, library card number (barcode) and PIN
- In person by bringing your library card and the items to any Long Beach Public Library
Holds
Library patrons who do not pick up their reserved materials may be charged $1.05 for each item. Get more information about placing a hold and using your account online.
Extended Use Fees
Please note: Fines are assessed according to the type of material checked out and are charged 7 days a week.

The Library refers unpaid accounts to a collection agency, charging the patron the cost of doing so.
