Bay Shore Library was established in September 1929 at 194 Corona Avenue. The library later moved to its current site, as part of the Selover Building. The current 6,900 square-foot building opened in April 1959. Noted artist, Taro Yashima, was commissioned to create five paintings for the children's section. The Bay Shore Neighborhood Library is named after Alamitos Bay, which the building overlooks and Belmont Shore, the community it serves.
