History
Although the Burnett Neighborhood Library was built in 1969, it could be considered Long Beach's first branch library. The original Burnett Neighborhood Library was established in a classroom of Burnett Elementary School in 1910 and moved to its present site in 1924. The 'new' Burnett Neighborhood Library celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2009. It is a spacious building featuring warm wood tones, floor to ceiling windows, and two shady patios. The papier-mache statues of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs which decorate the children's area have been a beloved landmark for neighborhood children for more than 20 years.

The Burnett Neighborhood Library is named after Peter H. Burnett, California's first governor under United States rule.
