Directions - The Dana Neighborhood Library is located at 3680 Atlantic Avenue, at the southwest corner of Atlantic Avenue and 37th Street. The library parking lot is off 37th Street and has spaces for 8 vehicles.

History The Dana Neighborhood Library started as California Heights Station in 1928 at 913 Wardlow Road, and moved to 3924 Atlantic in 1941. The Library moved to its present location on May 30, 1958. The Library was dedicated to Richard Henry Dana Jr., who sailed on the Pilgrim out of Boston, to the California coast. From this experience he wrote the classic Two Years Before the Mast. A unique feature of the library is a tile mosaic of the ship Pilgrim in the entrance hall. City Council Representative Long Beach City Council 7th District, James Johnson. Collections
- Children: popular fiction titles, non-fiction to support homework needs, music CDs, movies, audio books, and Spanish language materials.
- Young Adult: popular fiction titles, classics, magazines, and CDs.
- Adult: popular fiction including classics, mystery, romance, science fiction, and African-American authors. Non-fiction, music CDs, large print materials, magazines, movies, audio books and Spanish language materials.
Programs - Story times for children of all ages. Call for days and times or visit the Events Calendar.

- Internet, electronic database, beginning computer and e-mail instruction for adults. Advance sign-up required.
- The Family Learning Center provides homework assistance to students in grades K - 8. Parents are encouraged to use the library with their children. The center is staffed with homework helpers to provide help with homework assignments and computer assistance. Call the library to confirm days and times.
- Adult Book Club meets the 2nd Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Call the library for more information.
Facilities - The community meeting room has a capacity of 90 and is available on a rental basis.
- The book drops, two in front and one in the parking lot, are available when the library is closed.
Equipment - This neighborhood library offers computers with Internet access, the library catalog, a community resource file, and various on-line reference resources.
- A library card is needed to access the Internet. Access is on a first come basis and is limited to 45 minutes per day. Printing is $.15 per page.
- A photocopy machine makes black and white copies for $.15 per page.
