El Dorado Neighborhood Library


Directions - The El Dorado Neighborhood Library is located at 2900 Studebaker, between Willow Street and Spring Street. The library is on the east side of the street. The library parking lot is off Studebaker and is shared with the various activities at El Dorado Park.

History El Dorado opened on September 23, 1970 and is a popular place for the local community. The library is in El Dorado Park and was built to fit into its natural surroundings. El Dorado Neighborhood Library is named after El Dorado Park in which the library is located. City Council Representative Long Beach City Council 5th District, Gerrie Schipske Collections - Children: popular fiction titles and a large picture book collection as well as subject material to support student homework needs.
- Young Adult: The teen section features fiction, non-fiction, magazines, and graphic novels.
- Adult: popular fiction, bestsellers, non-fiction, periodicals and newspapers, and small rotating media collections, including DVDs, audio books, and popular music CDs.
Programs - The El Dorado Neighborhood Library 50+ Book Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. This book club, in partnership with the Long Beach Senior Center, is geared toward the mature reader. We welcome new members; please feel free to join us.
- The Family Learning Center provides homework assistance to students in grades K-12. Parents are encouraged to use the library with their children. Homework helpers provide help with both homework and computer instruction. Call the library to confirm days and times, (562) 570-3136.
- The library offers computer classes and other programs for adults. A summer reading program for children, teens, and adults is also offered. Please check the Events Calendar for specific programs and times.
Facilities - The El Dorado Neighborhood Library is one of the larger neighborhood libraries in Long Beach. The community meeting room has a capacity of 80 and is available on a rental basis.
- An outdoor bookdrop, located near the front entrance, is open when the library is closed and one drive-up book bookdrop is available 24 hours a day.
Equipment - This neighborhood library offers computers with Internet access, the library catalog, a community resource file, and various on-line reference resources.
- A library card number is needed to access the Internet. Access is on a first come basis and is limited to 30 minutes per day. Printing cost is $.15 per page.
- A photocopy machine makes black and white copies for $.15 per page.
