Easy A - Banned Book Week Film Screening

Join us September 20 in the Main Library Auditorium from 2:00-4:30PM as LBPL, Alpha Omicron Pi and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternities present a special banned book week screening of Easy A (PG-13). The screenplay was partially inspired by the novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and stars Emma Stone. In the movie, a clean-cut high school student relies on the school's rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.

The Scarlett Letter caused a moralist outrage when published in 1852. Over 140 years later the book is still being banned because its conflicts with community values. Parents in one school district called the book “pornographic and obscene.”
