Long Beach Reads One Book - March 1 - 9, 2008 Celebrating its 7th year, Long Beach Reads One Book engages the local community by encouraging them to read the same book and discuss it in a variety of venues and formats. This year's book, Grayson, by local author, Lynne Cox, is an autobiographical story. The story details Cox's adventures during one of her routine morning swims off the coast of Long Beach. She encounters a baby whale separated from its mother, and embarks on a quest to reunite the two.

Cambodia Trip a Success! Staff members sucessfully purchased a total of 1,105 books from Cambodia for the New Mark Twain Library and the rest of the Long Beach Library system in January.

Celebrate Saturday, Feb 2, 2 p.m. @ Mark Twain Libray A total of 1,105 books were purchased from Cambodia for the Mark Twain Library and the Long Beach Library system. A celebration event for the public has been scheduled for Saturday, February 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Mark Twain Library, 1401 East Anaheim Street in Long Beach.
