Since 2000, the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library have operated a used bookstore in the lobby of the Main Library. The bookstore is staffed completely by volunteers. Bookstore Hours Tuesday - Thursday 11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Call (562) 570-6415 to verify that the bookstore is open.

Bookstore prices can't be beat, ranging from .25 cents for magazines to $5.00 for very special books. Most items sell for $1.00, with proceeds from the sales going to support the purchase of materials for the library.

Donate or Volunteer The Friends of the Library bookstore needs your donations. Donations can be dropped off at any neighborhood library or at the Main Library. We are always looking for volunteers willing to serve one shift a week of either 2 or 2.5 hours. Click here for more information and a Friends of the Library membership application.

Silent Auction

The Friends present a silent auction each month at the Main Library. Check the display case outside the Friends Bookstore in the lobby of the Main Library or visit the Silent Auction online. The books are of the highest quality and are available at very reasonable prices. Winning bidders are notified by phone and have two weeks to claim their purchase.
